Welcome
To Sacred Heart of Jesus!
We are a Catholic community of disciples and disciple makers in the heart of Baton Rouge who desire one thing above all else: to know the Heart of Jesus and to make His love known. At Sacred Heart, we encounter Jesus through prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, study of the Sacred Scriptures, fellowship with the poorest of the poor, and worship in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
The Lord has entrusted our parish with a beautiful mission. We are blessed to help form future priests through the Blessed Stanley Rother Seminary House of Formation. The Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament help form our children at Sacred Heart School. Our Vagabond Missionaries walk with and mentor teens in our neighborhood. And through our St. Vincent de Paul Conference, we encounter and serve Christ in our neighbors experiencing poverty.
Whether you have been Catholic your whole life, have been away from the Church, or are simply searching for Jesus, there is a place for you here. Come pray with us. Come study with us. Come serve with us. Come worship with us.
My prayer is that you will encounter the Sacred Heart of Jesus here and then carry His love into the world.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Reverend Josh Johnson
Pastor
Our Mission
Blessed with the unique gift of our ethnic, racial, economic and cultural diversity, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church exists to love God and make disciples of all nations in the geographical boundaries of our parish and beyond through our devotion to the breaking of the bread, prayer, fellowship and the teachings of Jesus by the Apostles. (Acts 2:42)
